Flexible seating systems on Air Caster Technology
Most of the big new built sports arena’s and mid-sized stadiums are being built as multi-purpose venues. The capability of hosting more events than just the sports games makes the capital investment more economically sustainable. A lot of old stadiums are also being upgraded with flexible seating systems to enable different set-ups for other events than they were originally built for.
Air Caster Technology is often used to quickly and easily move the heavy seating systems and create different stadium set ups.
Intelligent transportation Systems for big and mid-sized stadiums and arena’s
Stadiums with a capacity of more than 10.000 seats have either completely fixed seating systems or a combination of a fixed part (upper rings) and movable seating modules in the lower part. The last category is already designed to apply Air Caster Technology and create multiple seating set-ups to accommodate different events.
For example the London Stadium is both used as the home stadium for the West Ham United football team, but can also be accommodate athletics games and concerts. The football fans want to sit as close to the action as possible, so all 66.000 seats are positioned in the stadium. When the stadium hosts athletic games, the seating system needs to be retracted to clear the running track. In concert mode most of the seating systems will be removed to have as much space as possible for the spectators on the field.
In this case the lower part of the seating system has a Permanently Installed Air Caster System underneath the seating modules to enable the 45.000 kg weighing system to float. Moving heavy objects can now be performed quickly, easily, very accurate and with little force.
Efficient transport system for smaller venues
Venues with a capacity of less than 10.000 seats exist of fixed-, flexible module-, or flexible telescopic seating systems. These stadiums often need to have a flexible set-up of the seats to accommodate a variety of events that take place. Important is that they can change the set-up quickly and cost effectively.
The flexible module systems are mostly equipped with either a Permanently Installed Air Caster System, but can also be moved on a Modular Air Caster System. Flexible telescopic seating systems are often moved on Air Caster Beams.
When moving heavy machines with a weight exceeding 4.000 kg’s we recommend to use External Air Powered Drives to control the load correctly and safely.
Plug and play Air Caster solutions
Whatever Air Caster solution you would choose, we will deliver a complete plug-and-play system that enables the seating system to float. When required we will also deliver the power drives to quickly move the seating system in to place.
We can train your staff on how to work with the Air Caster Systems correctly or assist them during the actual transitions. Aerofilm Systems is also able to service the Air Caster System, do regular inspections on the status and quickly deliver spare parts when required.
Air Caster solution for heavy and lighter seating modules
In general we would recommend to use Permanently Installed Air Caster Systems at big stadiums with heavy seating systems (>10.000 kg). External Air Powered Drives can be used for the movement and positioning.
Lighter seating modules or telescopic systems (1.000 – 10.000 kg) can be moved with either permanent systems, Air Caster Beams or a Modular Air Caster System. The last two systems can be easily stored when they are not in use. Movement in the lower region can be done manually, but above 4.000 kg’s we strongly recommend to use power drives to move the load in a safe manner.
Why use Air Caster Systems
- Makes your stadium more flexible, generates more income
- Shortens the turn-around time for the different set-ups
- Requires less staff to break down, and build up the seating modules
- Costs less than the traditional transporting methods
- Ergonomic movement due to the low friction
- No point loads, so no damage to the floor
- Virtually no wear
- No harming exhaust gasses
- Compact design
